People living in Rural Wales have no mains gas in many if not most of the villages. This means most rely on oil. Oil has to be paid in full on ordering it. Some companies offer a pre-payment system but again they have to have enough credit built up to order their oil. For people on low incomes ( most people ) finding this large sum of money becomes impossible. There is no credit option for people using oil.

A lot of people on low incomes are not claiming any benefits and therefore do not qualify for home improvement schemes to make their homes more energy efficient.

A lot of people end up electric heaters which can be very expensive to run.

I hope this gives you an insight to the problems facing people living in Wales but in particular Rural Wales.
